At MST, we tell great stories.  For eight years, our company of ridiculously talented young performers, technicians and musicians have put their heart and sole into creating magic on stage.  And now you can be a part of our story.  paypal donate

Be part of our story by giving to MST. In making a contribution you become a member of our company, and you have the satisfacation of knowing that you are part of a family that values truth, beauty and the expression of the human experience.

MST keeps tuition as low as possible so that cost is not a barrier to participation. MST believes that a student's financial means are not an indicator of their artistic ability. MST also keeps ticket prices low and we give mentorships to our college-aged company members.

We want your help, and we need your help. Since 2011 our facility costs have risen by more than $10,000 a year, jeopardizing our ability to continue our mission.

Our goal is to raise $6,000 during our Facebook Fundraiser.  Over the next 15 days we will tell you about how MST came in to being, take a trip down memory lane and also show you the future of MST.

MST is ... Flashback 2012

In 2012 MST exploded.  Marin Summer Theater established itself as a 501(c)3 non-profit separate from San Marin Music Boosters.  We produced SPRING AWAKENING (with musical direction by Drew Gasparini), our first show away from San Marin.  Jim Poulos returned as a guest director for THE IMPORTANCE OF BEING EARNEST, and LEGALLY BLONDE sold out every performance. MST was also honored by National Youth Arts (NYA) with 11 nominations and 4 awards in NYA's Eighth Annual National Youth Arts Awards.

Make MST Part of Your Story

We would like to thank the people that are already part of the MST story.  Since the beginning, MST has been blessed with generous donors and supporters that make our work possible, and in doing so are part of our history and our future.  MST was originally started and funded by San Marin Music Boosters.  Without the support of the Novato Unified School District, we never would have gotten off the ground.  Our fabulous board members and all of the volunteers, parents and helpers get us through each season.

We would especially like to thank the donors that have already given to MST in 2016.  These very kind people and organizations include: The Frankie Poulos Foundation, Julia Krasner, Nims & Associates, Sheila Jones, Rick Trono, John & Rhonda Carr, Elizabeth Conlon, Susan Ellen Leonard, Donatella and Daniel Levintow, Pam Nichter, Chevron Oil, Marsha August, Idajean Kaplan, Dr. Jan Latorre-Derby, Jim Gratiot, Lora Dinga, Jane White.  With their help we have so far raised over $12,000.  But that just gets us half-way there.  We need to raise $6,000 in this Facebook Fundraiser, $10 at time if necessary.  Please help us by making MST part of your story.

For everyone that has helped us in the past, this moment from GYPSY is for you.  You are all stars to us.

By 2011 MST was a force to be reckoned with.  Jim Poulos joined the company for the first time as a guest Director. The size of our college company grew.  We continued our committement to new and classic works with a summer of SONGS FOR A NEW WORLD, ONCE IN A LIFETIME and WEST SIDE STORY.

In 2010, MST tackled CHICAGO, ROSENCRANTZ & GUILDENSTERN ARE DEAD and SOME ENCHANTED EVENING. It was an incredible season and solidified our misson:
- Present professional-quality drama, musical theater, and musical revues.
- Keep tuition as low as possible so that cost is not a barrier to participation
- Create a diverse theater company of professionally minded students

MST is ... Flashback 2009

paypal donate handIn 2008, Emily Gates and Patrick Nims saw a need for a low-cost student summer performing arts program. At that time there were no theater programs for college-age students in Marin County, no low cost theater arts programs for college or high school students, and no "summer stock" programs that produced multiple shows with core company members. Nims and Gates envisioned a plan to create a student summer theater company that would prepare and present three different productions in seven weeks. The "summer stock" aspect is a key component of MST. Company members are challenged in many ways by preparing for multiple roles, productions, and technical responsibilites simulatenously.
