The Importance of Being Earnest, subtitled A Trivial Comedy for Serious People, is considered by many to be the wittiest play ever written in the English language.
In this rousing, romantic escapade, Oscar Wilde dishes up scathing social satire, effervescent wit and high farce, making Earnest one of the most cherished plays in the English language. In a stylish send-up of Victorian courtship and manners, charming bachelors Jack and Algernon lead double lives to woo the two young ladies who have won their hearts. When they are caught in their lies, the stage is set for clever manipulations and hilarious confusion.

This Earnest Is Like No Other
Less than one week before opening, Rose Oser joined the cast of The Importance of Being Earnest in the central role of Algernon. The casting change became necessary when the actor scheduled to appear in the part became unavailable.
While not immediately obvious, since Algernon is a he and Rose is a she, it was brilliant solution that added an additional spark an already remarkable production!
