GYPSY is the story of the ultimate, aggressive stage mother and her daughters. The rhinestone splendor of vaudeville's waning days are brought to life in this musical based on the life of burlesque queen Gypsy Rose Lee. To the accompaniment of Jule Styne and Stephen Sondheim's zesty songs, June and Louise are dragged from one second-rate theatre to another and through a myriad of dingy hotels as their scheming mother pursues a dream of her daughters' headlining the famed Orpheum Circuit. Featuring unforgettable songs such as "Let Me Entertain You," "Some People" and "Everything's Coming Up Roses" GYPSY is one of the greatest musicals of the golden age.

Marin Summer Theater opens its 2013 season with GYPSY on July 4, 5, 6, 7, 12 and 13 at the Emily Gates Student Center at San Marin High School. Tickets may be purchased in advance at www.marinsummertheater.org and at the San Marin High School business office. Marin Summer Theater (MST) is an award winning non-profit theater company for students of performing arts between the ages of 13 and 23. The MST company prepares and presents three fully-staged productions in a six-week summer season. MST's mission is threefold: To present exciting, professional quality drama, musical theater and musical revue productions; to keep tuition as low as possible so that cost is not a barrier to participation; to create a diverse company of college and high school students.
